Togo is a small country in West Africa about the size of West Virginia sandwiched between Ghana and Benin. Togos population of just over 5 million is extremely diverse, with about 40 ethnic groups. It is divided into five regions starting in the south and stretching to the north: Maritime, Plateau, Central, Kara, and Savannes. French is Togos official language, although about half of its inhabitants speak or understand Ew. The other widely spoken local language is Kaby, the most common language of the Kara Region.
